The Green Facade of the Future

vertical

VERTICAL is a living facade system that can be integrated directly into the building structure, replacing the traditional building envelope, or mounted onto existing buildings. One innovative system that unites expert knowledge of plant growth, building materials, and design. VERTICAL is delivered with an optional pre-grown planting concept, custom-designed irrigation technology, as well as an operational agreement and full warranty.

PLANT CONCEPT

The planting concepts have been carefully selected by gardeners and architects, with a focus on growth performance in urban environments, as well as plant aesthetics and functionality.

FRONT PANEL

The ventilated facade programme offers a wide selection of front materials. The front material can be chosen so that the façade material remains consistent across the entire building, both with and without planting.

GROWTH ELEMENT

The growth element consists of a moulded, specially engineered growing medium made from natural materials with high absorbency and capillary action. This ensures an even distribution of water, benefiting the plants growing within it.

HAT CHANNEL

VERTICAL offers a complete façade solution, covering everything from the fixing to the back wall to the final facade cladding. Full system documentation included.

Plant concepts

Summer bloom

A flower-rich and lush plant composition that thrives during the warm months and creates visual impact. Primarily perennials with a few grasses. The summer and winter periods stand in contrast, as the planting will retreat into a dormant winter state and expose the front material.

Grassland

A light and airy plant composition featuring grasses and perennials. The characteristic, delicate grasses with swaying seed heads move with the wind, creating a natural and vibrant expression. Occasional flowers appear during the summer months, and the seed heads remain as winter structure.

Evergreen

A high proportion of evergreen perennials, grasses, and small shrubs. Lush and green all year round. Occasional flowering and berry formation. The evergreen shrubs provide shelter and opportunities for songbirds to nest. The plant composition exposes the front materials only minimally during winter.

Forest edge

This plant concept is especially green and lush — characterized by vibrant, visually prominent foliage. The composition focuses on structure-forming leaf shapes that create a calm and cohesive expression. Ferns, large-leaved perennials, and small shrubs define the look.

Biodiversity

Flora and fauna go hand in hand in this plant composition. Flowering and berry-producing species together create a long blooming period, providing food sources for insects and berries for birds. Small shrubs offer natural nesting opportunities for songbirds. Biodiversity can be further supported with biodiversity elements such as nesting boxes, insect hotels, bat boxes, and more.

"A living facade system creates an entirely new natural surface that enhances biodiversity in urban environments."
